Kata Beach House Reef is the perfect option if you only have half a day available. It's a fantastic choice for beginners, and yet it remains a firm favourite with experienced divers.
A short swim from shore, there are plenty of hard corals forming a compact reef bursting with vibrant marine life and surrounded by pure white sand. As a result, the marine life is concentrated into a small area, so we're surrounded by schooling fish as soon as we submerge.
The sandy areas provide ample space for practicing skills, especially buoyancy, without risking harm to the corals. Additionally, these areas are home to some very special residents like mimic octopus, snake eels, and Indian Ocean Walkmen. As a result, experienced divers love spending time travelling slowly over the sand, watching out for special creatures.
Travel over the sand for a few minutes, and you'll find artificial reef blocks at around 12m where we often see rainbow runners, yellowtail scads, and juvenile blue trevally hunting glassfish and snapper.
