SSI Scuba Diving Specialty Courses are designed to intentionally bridge the gap between basic open water survival and underwater mastery. While your initial open water certification taught you how to stay safe, specialty courses transition you from just "surviving" a dive to actively enjoying and mastering specific underwater environments.

Environmental Physics and Physiology: Programs like the Science of Diving or Deep Diving teach you exactly how high pressure alters gas absorption, your equipment, and your cognitive function at depth.
Gas Management Science: The Enriched Air Nitrox course explains how altering oxygen percentages minimizes nitrogen intake, safely extending your maximum bottom times.
Site and Risk Assessment: Dedicated courses teach you how to read currents, analyze underwater topography, and evaluate ambient risk before stepping off the boat.

Flexible Learning Options: SSI lets you skip generic milestones and jump right into full specialty programs immediately after your open water course.
Automated Recognition Milestones: Completing specialty courses automatically unlocks elite, free recognition tiers like Specialty Diver (2 courses + 12 dives) and Advanced Specialty Diver (4 courses + 24 dives) and the elite rating of Master Diver (Deep, Stress & Rescue plus 3 other courses = 50 logged dives).
Efficient Training Structure: SSI allows us to combine specialties so you can reach your goals faster. For example, you can complete two specialties over three dives. If you're doing five or more dives with us, we can combine up to four specialties during those dives.
Adaptable Recognition System: SSI may credit some specialties from other recognized training agencies.
