DIVE CENTER NEWS (updated 25 January 2012)

Thirteen Years as a PADI 5* IDC Center Unlucky for some?

Click on the thumbnail here to see a larger version.

We celebrated our 12th birthday last November and so now Oceanic Divecenter is entering its 13th year. Happily we're not supersticious, and we'd like our divers to celebrate with us throughout this year. Book a dive trip with us and quote "13, unlucky for some!" in your email and we'll give you free equipment rental for all of the days you're diving with us. The bigger your group, the bigger your bonus. All of the divers you book on the trip will get the same deal!

"Last Minute" discounts on selected Similans liveaboard boats

Over Christmas and New Year we had a record number of divers in the Similans and they've all come back with huge smiles and some great photos. Our favourite is the picture of the super-rare giant guitarfish (Rhynchobatus djiddensis), often mistaken for a shark, but actually more closely related to rays. You can see the photo, taken at Richelieu Rock, on our Oceanic Facebook Page. If you want your chance to photo this beauty then check out our hand-picked selection of boats on our Phuket Liveaboard Boats page. We offer the full range from budget to 5-star luxury but they all share one thing in common... a proven track-record of excellence in customer service and safety. Some of the boats may be offering special prices for last minute bookings in the coming weeks, while some trips are already full. Email us for more information info@oceanicdivecenter.com

Phi Phi Islands Overnight Dive Trip Special Offer

This is always considered a special trip because of the great dive staff, lovely air-conditioned accommodation on Phi Phi, delicious food and, not forgetting, the amazing diving! At 9,900 Baht per diver it's already special value, but during our 13th year, we're offering free equipment rental for anyone quoting "13, unlucky for some!" when they book... that's a saving of 1,400 Baht per diver. For more details, please check out our Phi Phi Diving page on this site or contact us by phone or email.

Hin Daeng, Hin Muang & Koh Ha... superstar dive sites!

Sometimes it seems all the attention in the diving community of Phuket is on the world-famous Similans, so these other treasures of the Andaman are often overlooked. Just a bit too far for a daytrip, Hin Daeng (Red Rock) and Hin Muang (Purple Rock) are described in more detail at this link and we visit them on shorter 2, 3 or 4 night liveaboard trips which will also visit the enchanting islands Koh Ha and Phi Phi and the ever popular Shark Point. On previous trips the divers were treated to whalesharks, mantas, mobulas, seahorses, ornate ghostpipefish and many more fabulous surprises. These trips run throughout the year, so even though the Similans close for the low season in May, you can still get in some wonderful diving and experience the convenience and camaraderie of life on board a liveaboard dive boat.

Half-day and Day Trips for diving and snorkling around Phuket every day.

The conditions on Phuket's Western beaches are fantastic now and set to stay that way all the way through to April or May. We can rent snorkelling gear and give you advice on the best spots for snorkelling or even take you out on Discover Scuba dives right here on our Kata and Karon house reefs. If you prefer to be out on the open ocean, the conditions are always superb at our popular diving and snorkelling sites at Racha Yai. Snorkellers and divers of all abilities will find what they're looking for diving at Phi Phi too. For divers with a little more experience, our daily trips out to King Cruiser Wreck, will astound you with the numbers and varieties of schooling fish around the wreck.

If you can't decide what trip is best for you, take advantage of our reputation as "the friendliest dive center in town"! Drop in for a chat or email us for gneral information and advice about the best trips for you info@oceanicdivecenter.com

PADI e-Learners PROMOTION - 10% discount on courses at Oceanic

We know your time is precious when you only get a few days' holiday each year and if you've never dived before and want to get your licence it can seem like a big chunk out of your holiday to take the full Open Water course. One way you can speed things up while you're here is to do the "hard work" at your own pace at home through PADI's e-Learning system. Then, when you arrive in Phuket, you only have the fun part to do - diving! You can even do the acadmic portion of the Advanced Open Water course this way. Register with Oceanic Divecenter at PADI's website through this link to get started on your Open Water or Advanced Open Water coursework online. When you come to complete the water work with Oceanic Divecenter we'll give you 10% off our fees. (Note PADI fees will apply when you register with the e-Learning system.)

We welcome mixed groups of divers and snorkellers...

Many of our dive sites are perfect for snorkellers too. Join us every day for a trip to the fabulous Phi Phi or Racha Yai!
